Description
This workshop will provide an in-depth look at the 2018 North Carolina Commercial and Residential Energy Code that went into effect January 1, 2019. The majority of the day will be spent on the commercial code with the afternoon focusing on the recent changes to the residential code.
The commercial section will cover the pathways to compliance including the prescriptive compliance option, the ASHRAE 90.1 2013 option, and the performance compliance option. The workshop will focus on the changes to construction documentation, building thermal envelope, air leakage requirements, mechanical systems, and lighting requirements.
The residential section will detail the specific changes from the 2012 code with a focus on the new performance-based compliance path called the Energy Rating Index (ERI). Attendees are encouraged to bring their code books along as it will be a helpful resource in the discussions of the 2018 Energy Code.
