The 2017 Appalachian Clean Energy CLE workshop will provide attorneys and other attendees with knowledge on issues related to clean energy facing North Carolina. Attendees will leave the workshop with a better understanding of: -NC Electric Membership Corporation perspective on project development and legislation updates including the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) and the North Carolina Utilities Commission (NCUC) -Annual update: policy review, energy efficiency, net metering, and avoided costs -Deep dive into utility rates and the issues considered by the Utilities Commission -New initiatives of investor owned utilities, rural co-operatives, and municipalities -Emerging opportunities in micro grids and battery systems -Directed biogas and the renewable energy portfolio standard.

This training course teaches the concepts and skills necessary to provide homeowners and home builders a detailed analysis of energy consumption and money-saving energy conservation strategies as well as all the information needed to take the RESNET Rater Certification test.

Interested in energy modeling but don’t know where to start? Through presentations and hands-on exercises this course will investigate the benefits, explore software options, costs, and resources available. Programs that will be demonstrated in the course are OpenStudio, BEopt, and REM/Rate.

The classroom lectures of the REPV workshop are dedicated to the technical aspect of photovoltaics, including system types, components, applications, design and best practices for installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting. A hands-on day installing a fully integrated grid-tied PV system pulls together the classroom knowledge and rounds out the five-day workshop. An optional NABCEP Entry-Level Exam is offered at the conclusion of the course.

3 day consumer trade expo including 100's of exhibitors in the Eco, Green Solar industries providing variety of products and services to consumers and B2b companies about new and current products. This 1-1/2 day workshop will cover the basics of small scale hydro power with a field trip to local microhydro installation.

This 6-week online class is the REPV online equivalent without the hands-on installation day. This is a 6 week, 40 hour, photovoltaic workshop under the Renewable Energy Technologies Diploma Series. This course gives participants the flexibility to take courses online – either through the 2 weekly scheduled live sessions or the 2 weekly recorded lectures. Live online classes will take place twice a week, 2.5 hours each session. These live lectures take place every Tuesday and Thursday from 12:00pM-2:30 PM.

This day-long hands-on class is for those who have taken the 40-hour basics of design and installation of PV systems (REPV) workshop.  

Workshop Goal: North Carolina clean energy finance is undergoing significant and complex changes. Federal laws and regulations are being revisited for the first time in decades and North Carolina has recently revised a host of clean energy policies as well as created additional financing mechanisms.
